Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

International degree

Uni-assist

Your application will be processed via uni-assist. The application can be submitted after 1 March; the deadline is 30 April.

Please register with your personal email address here: https://my.uni-assist.de/registrierung

Once you have confirmed the registration link that is sent to you per email your user profile is ready.

Log in with your username and password, and:

  • Choose the semester (i.e. winter semester 2024/25), the university (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) and the study course (MA British Studies).
  • Please answer all obligatory questions.
  • Upload all necessary documents with clear file names in English or German.
  • Then go to payment (‘Zur Kasse gehen’) on the menu. Every application takes an administration fee, the first one costs 75 Euros, every other 30 Euros.

When this is done your application will be processed. You can check the status in your account. The complete examination of your papers may take up to 6 weeks. If your documents do not fulfil the admission criteria you will be notified. You may upload missing documents as long as the admission deadline hasn’t expired.

In case of a successful formal check of your documents you will be informed that uni-assist has forwarded your application to Humboldt-Universität.

IMPORTANT: You will, furthermore, receive a confirmation (Bewerberbestätigung). Please use that to already make an appointment with the German embassy in your home country for the second half of July. If you are admitted to the course, you will be able to download an admission certificate after 17 July 2024. Do not wait until then to arrange the appointment – the visa process takes very long and you don’t want to miss the start of your study programme in the middle of October.

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HUB)

Once your application has been forwarded to the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, you will be sent an email with information and a log-in for your HU application portal. Please check your emails regularly (including SPAM folder) for any updates in your application account. You may check your status any time. Most of the time it will state that your application is being processed („Antrag ist in Bearbeitung/Prüfung“). If there are changes you will be notified.

At the beginning of June, you will be informed by the Centre for British Studies if you have been selected to take part in an interview, which is an essential part of the selection process. After these have taken place (usually in the second half of June) the selection committee will make their decision and you will be notified if your application for the MA British Studies has been successful. Good luck!
