With The Anthropological Turn in Literary Studies REAL continues its new policy of publishing collections of essays that deal with central issues of contemporary literary theory and critical practice. After Aesthetics and Contemporary Discourse (1994) and The Historical and Political Turn in Literary Studies (1995) this volume offers a number of contributions which explore the opportunities created by the apparent convergence of literary studies and anthropological methods of interpretation or bring an anthropological interest to bear on specific problems of literary history.
