Dr Steven Truxal is Senior Lecturer, Programme Director, LLM International Business Law (distance learning) at City University London. His principal areas of research are Commercial Law and Competition Law. His specialist research focuses on the issues surrounding competition and environmental regulation of air transport. Dr Truxal is particularly interested in how 'regulation' and multilevel decision-making impacts on and implicates airlines, air cargo carriers and firms in industries complementary to air transport.

Steven Truxal studied for a BA at the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., USA, with International Law and Economics as concentrations. He completed an LLM in International Commercial Law and PhD in Aviation Law at the University of Westminster.

Before he joined The City Law School in 2012, Dr Truxal was Dean of Studies and Visiting Professor of English Law at the Centre for British Studies, Humboldt-Universität, Berlin. He has also been invited to deliver lectures at other institutions abroad such as Universities of Mannheim, La Universidad de Deusto, Bilbao, Spain, and De Hanzehogeschool Groningen, the Netherlands. He has lectured in England at Kingston University, University of Westminster and University of Surrey. In addition to being a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority, Dr Truxal serves as external examiner and has sat as subject expert on validation panels.

As a PhD supervisor, Steven Truxal welcomes approaches from prospective PhD students in areas related to aviation, transport law and international commercial law.
