Dr Marius Guderjan is a lecturer and researcher in British Politics at the Centre for British Studies at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. He is also co-chairman of the German Association for British Studies (Arbeitskreis Großbritannien-Forschung).

Between 2023 and 2025, Marius worked for the LEGITIMULT project at the Otto Suhr Institute of Political Science of the Freie Universität Berlin. From 2014 to 2022, he was a post-doc at Humboldt-Universität where he completed his habilitation thesis, for which he studied the institutionalisation and patterns of intergovernmental cooperation, conflict and influence between the UK and the devolved governments.

In 2013, Marius obtained his PhD at Manchester Metropolitan University and worked subsequently as a senior research assistant at the university’s Policy Evaluation and Research Unit. Prior to his PhD, Marius completed an MA in European Politics (Research) with distinction at the University of Liverpool and studied Social Science with an emphasis on politics at the University of Cologne.

Besides his expertise in British and territorial politics, his research focuses among other things on European politics, populism, political legitimacy and agency. Marius published and edited various monographs, journal articles and special issues, including Intergovernmental Relation in the UK (Routlegde 2023), Local Government in the European Union (Palgrave Macmillan 2021), Contested Britain: Brexit, Austerity and Agency (Bristol University Press 2020).
