Dr Sandra van Lente stood in for Prof Gesa Stedman for the summer semester 2021, teaching classes about Cultural Studies as well as the Literary Field in the UK.

Before coming back to Berlin, Dr Sandra van Lente worked as Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the AHRC-funded project “Rethinking 'Diversity' in Publishing” at Goldsmiths, University of London, with Dr Anamik Saha. Their report containing their findings as well as suggestions for the publishing industry to be more inclusive can be accessed here: www.rethinkingdiversity.org (both in English and German).

Sandra is also part of the team behind the online conference “Rethinking ‘Diversity’ in Publishing: British and German Perspectives” (26 April 2021).

Sandra worked as a lecturer and researcher at the Centre for British Studies, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, before. At the same time, she was completing her PhD about cultural exchange in contemporary British novels on migration, focusing on the tensions between the novels’ content and how they were marketed.

She runs the literature blog and event series “Literary Field Kaleidoscope” together with Prof Gesa Stedman (www.literaryfield.org). Sandra follows developments in the British, German, and French literary fields and is particularly interested in independent publishing and bookselling, women in publishing, and issues of diversity.
